When the pressure differential is established, the Blowe Door acts like a fan, blowing air into or exhausting air out of the house. It then measures the amount of air flowing in or out of the house at a given pressure. It is then used to calculate the dwelling's overall air infiltration and air tightness.

The answer is YES; New York State Energy Conservation and Construction Code (NYS ECCC) requires the building or dwelling unit shall be tested and verified as having an air leakage rate not exceeding three air changes per hour. A written report of the test results shall be signed by the party conducting the test and provided to the code official.
